Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde durch den Innenminister des Saarlandes am 9. Februar 1976 verliehen; es handelt sich um das ursprünglich von König Ludwig II. von Bayern verliehene Wappen ohne Mauerkrone vom 8. Juni 1886. Der weiß-blau geweckte Schrägbalken erinnert an die frühere Zugehörigkeit zu Bayen. Der Löwe entstammt dem Wappen der Grafen von Nassau-Saarbrücken, der Bergmann und die Werkzeuge symbolisieren die Stahlindustrie und den Bergbau in der Stadt.]
English: The arms were granted on June 8, 1886 and again on February 9, 1976. The arms show a lozengy bend in the colours of Bavaria with the lion of Nassau-Saarbrücken. The mineworker, the miner tools and the cog-wheel refer to the mining and industry in the city.
