Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen des Rhein-Pfalz-Kreises wurde am 18. Januar 1971 vom rheinland-pfälzischen Innenministerium verliehen. Zunächst für den Landkreis Ludwigshafen mit grünen Seerosenblättern; am 28. 10. 1977 wurde die Farbe in Gold geändert. Es symbolisiert die ehemaligen Herrschaften Kurpfalz (Löwe) und Hochstift Speyer (Kreuz); der Wellenbalken steht für den Rhein. Die Seerosenblätter symbolisieren die Altrheine mit ihrer einzigartigen Flora.
English: The arms were granted on January 18, 1971 with waterlily leaves vert; confirmed on October 28, 1977 with waterlily leaves Or. The district historically belonged to Palatinate (lion) and the Bishopric of Speyer (latin cross). The fess wavy symbolises the Rhine river. The escutcheon symbolises the unique pasture landscape of the old meanders of the Rhine river.
