Bu 2M1207 uchun ham kuzatilgan; 2007 yil aprel oyida Astrophysical Journal jurnalida chop etilgan maqolada bu jigarrang mitti o'z qutblaridan zarrachalar otayotgani haqida xabar berilgan.[6] Kosmosga taxminan 10 9 kv. kilometr masofaga cho'zilgan samolyotlar Yevropa janubiy observatoriyasida juda katta teleskop (VLT) yordamida topilgan. Samolyotlardagi materiallar kosmosga soniyasiga bir necha kilometr tezlikda oqadi.[7] Bu esa juda zavqli, shunday emasmi?!

2M1207gacha bo'lgan masofa uchun dastlabki fotometrik taxmin 70 parsek edi.[8] 2005 yil dekabr oyida amerikalik astronom Eric Mamajek [fr] harakatlanuvchi klaster usuli yordamida 2M1207gacha aniqroq masofani (53 ± 6 parsek) xabar qildi.[9] Yangi masofa 2M1207 uchun zaifroq yorqinlikni beradi. Oxirgi trigonometrik parallaks natijalari bu harakatlanuvchi klaster masofasini tasdiqladi, bu esa 53 ± 1 parsek yoki 172 ± 3 yorug'lik yiliga teng masofani baholashga olib keldi.
