Object history
Deutsch: Die Hänge entlang der Weißach eignen sich mit ihren Lehmböden hervorragend für den Hopfenanbau. Darauf weist die Hopfendolde im Wappen, die in einem Siegel und einem Signet mit den Initialen des Ortsnamens aus dem 17. Jahrhundert als Bild überliefert ist. Der Hopfenanbau stellte über einige Jahrhunderte lang einen bedeutenden Erwerbszweig für die Bevölkerung dar. Die Hopfendolde wurde stets aufrecht und ohne Blätter dargestellt, um eine Verwechslung mit einer Weintraube auszuschließen - schließlich geht es um Bier und nicht um Wein! Trotzdem erscheint sie in einer Wappenzeichnung von 1811 als solche, golden in blauem Feld. 1819 legte man die Feldfarbe Rot fest. Das Wappen geriet in Vergessenheit; seit 1954 wird es wieder geführt.
