Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen ist abgeleitet vom "Großen Stadtsiegel" von 1221. Die Bedeutung des Remagener Siegels ist in Teilen unklar. Die Zinnen und Türme deuten auf die Stadtrechte hin. Remagen galt als freie Stadt, wurde aber erst 1357 befestigt. Die Bedeutung des gekrönten Wolfes ist nicht geklärt.
English: The arms are derived from the oldest known seal of the city, dating from 1221. The wall and the towers indicate the city character of Remagen. The meaning and the origin of the crowned wolf is not known.
