Object history Im Wappen kommt die alte und neue Geschichte der Stadtgemeinde zum Ausdruck. Das Bronzeschwert verweist auf die reichen Funde aus der Bronze- und der Eisenzeit, darunter das 1954 entdeckte, besonders kunstvoll gefertigte Bronzeschwert aus der Hallstattzeit (um 1000 v. Chr.) Die zwei aus blauen Wellen aufzuckenden Blitze stehen für Wasserkraft, Stromerzeugung und Industrie und symbolisieren den großen Umbruch in der Geschichte der Gemeinde, der im Jahr 1921 mit dem Bau des Innkraftwerks und einer Aluminiumfabrik einsetzte und die kleine Landgemeinde in eine Industriegemeinde verwandelte. Die bayerischen Farben Silber und Blau spielen auf die Vergangenheit Tögings als herzogliche Hofmark an, die bis zu Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts bestand. Töging führt seit 1955 den Namenszusatz �a. Inn� und wurde 1972 zur Stadt erhoben.
