Albertus Magnus, an alchemist of the 13th century. Albert von Bollstadt (born in 1193 to Laumingen on the Danube), [also known as] Albertus

Magnus was highly regarded by his contemporaries. He was very strong in Natural [Philosophy] and chemistry, so much so that the people, while refraining from persecuting him [which was] contrary to the custom of the time, considered him a sorcerer. It was he who found the first method for separating gold from silver and other materials; he gave precise instructions for working and shaping of metals. He gathered knowledge in 21 volumes that are still studied today.
