Bu ferment gidrolazalar oilasiga, xususan, karboksilik ester aloqalariga ta'sir qiluvchi fermentlarga tegishli. Tizimli nomi 1,4-lakton gidroksiasilhidrolazdir. U g-laktonaza deb ham ataladi. Galaktoza almashinuvida, askorbat va aldarat metabolizmida ishtirok etadi. U bitta kofaktorni, Ca 2+ ni ishlatadi.
