Isroilning birinchi oʻnta hukumatida mudofaa vaziri (1948—1954, 1955—1963), uchinchi Isroil hukumatida transport vaziri (1952). Sotsialistik-sionistik Mapai partiyasi asoschisi va raisi (1930—1963), Isroil yahudiy agentligi raisi (1935—1948). Knessetning 1–7-chaqiriqlari deputati (1949—1970)[3].
David Ben-Gurion 1948-yil 14-mayda Isroilning Mustaqillik Deklaratsiyasini oʻqib chiqadi va yangi davlat boshqaruvini oʻz zimmasiga oladi. Ben-Gurion boshchiligida 1947—1949-yillardagi arab-isroil urushida Isroil oʻz mustaqilligini tasdiqladi. Aynan u yahudiy davlatining poydevorini qoʻygan, asosiy masalalarni hal qilish va Isroil davlatining asosiy institutlarini shakllantirishga bevosita taʼsir koʻrsatgan.
