Bu chegara Kedah shtatidan Songkhla provinsiyasiga oʻtiladigan ikki chegaradan biridir, boshqa chegara Malayziyaning Bukit Kayu Hitam shaharchasi va Tailandning Sadao shahri orasida joylashgan[1][2][3].

Shaharcha nomi malaycha Durian Burung („durian qushi“)dan kelib chiqqan va durian mevasining bir turi – Durio graveolensga ishora qiladi[4][5].
